Monique LeBlanc Bio
PT
Monique is a 1988 graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy Program from Université Laval, Québec. She also graduated with a Masters Degree in Education from Université de Moncton. She initially worked full time as a member of the Hopital Georges L. Dumont physiotherapy staff. She later joined the team of physiotherapists at the Physiothérapie Héritage Clinic. She garnered further physiotherapy experience at the Hôpital de St Pierre et Miquelon and through work as an orthopedic physiotherapist and student supervisor/clinical teacher at the Hôpital orthopédique de Lausanne, Switzerland. Monique then returned Moncton as a founding partner of Sport Med Acadie at the Sports medicine clinic at the CEPS, Université de Moncton. In this role, she was involved with the student trainer program and was the dedicated physiotherapist for the varsity team athletes. She also was a course lecturer for the Faculty of Kinesiology at the Université de Moncton.
Monique’s primary focus has been sports physiotherapy and is one of the few Certified Sports Physiotherapists in New Brunswick. However, throughout her 25 + years as a physiotherapist, she acquired an extensive continuing education in a variety of fields from lymphatic drainage, aquatherapy, chronic pain, sports injuries, manual therapy, Swiss ball exercises, yoga and acupuncture; many of these courses were taken out of province and abroad. She also developed a Swiss ball exercise course for physiotherapists.
Monique is well known to the Greater Moncton Community, having grown up here and being involved in the local athletic scene, as an elite athlete (Canadian Rhythmic Gymnastics team) and as a volunteer therapist for many sporting events from local (Jeux de l’Acadie and many others), to national (Skate Canada, Canada Winter and Summer Games) and international (Jeux de la Francophonie, IIAF World Junior Track and Field Championships, FIFA). She has also been involved in the organizational aspect of medical coverage of the sporting events held locally. Monique likes to consider herself as the Unofficial physiotherapist for the Atlantic Ballet here in Moncton where she is also ”studying” ballet.
Monique treatment philosophy has evolved through the years and now can be defined simply as: get to the root of the problem, assist to minimize discomfort, maximize function to return to a great quality of life as possible with an active participation of the client.
